You can apply for passport amendment/annotation if you have a valid Vietnamese passport. The amendment/annotation can be made in the followings:

– Amendment in surnames/given name(s)/date of birth/place of birth/gender/number of identity card;

– Inclusion of child/children under 09 years of age.

Required documents:

 – For amendments in surnames/given name(s)/date of birth/place of birth/gender/number of identity card:

+ Original passport.

+ The original or a notarized copy of official document issued by relevant Vietnamese authority certifying the information corresponding to the amendment requested.

– For inclusion of child under 09 years of age into the parent’s passport, kindly follow either ONE of the following 02 options:

+ Similarly required documents for children applying for a Vietnamese passport for the first time (click here for further information).

+ Similarly required documents for children applying for passport renewal (click here for further information).

– A money order or cashier’s check for the fees made out to “EMBASSY OF VIETNAM”.

– A self-addressed prepaid return envelope (if you wish to receive your expired and new passport sent back by mail). To ensure safe delivery of your application package and new passport, it is recommended that you use certified mail service offered by USPS, UPS and FedEx with tracking number to check on delivery status. The Embassy shall not be responsible for any loss of documents due to insecure and uncertified mailing service.

Processing time: 

Within 03-05 business days after all required documents are submitted (extra time may be required for further background check/verification for application with inadequate or inaccurate information)
